Wall Preparation for Custom Name Decals

For best results, apply our decals to a smooth surface in good condition. The decals can be applied to any primed and painted surface including walls, doors, furniture, and more. It is recommended that you apply the product to surfaces that have been painted with a satin or semi-gloss finish. Tempaper decals may not stick to all surfaces. Applications on matte, flat, and low sheen paints and textured surfaces are not recommended. It is best to perform adhesion testing on a small, non-exposed area before applying to your intended surface.

It is suggested that surfaces are wiped clean with a damp cloth and given ample time to dry prior to beginning your application.

Lettering Application

Step One:

Position the decal at the desired location and gently secure in place with painters tape.

Step Two:

Place a long piece of painter’s tape down the center of your decal.

Step Three:

Gently peel one side of the decal and transfer paper off the backing. Fold it over securing it to the opposite side.

Step Four:

Carefully tear off the detached half of the backing and discard.

Step Five:

Reposition the decal and transfer paper back to its original side.

Step Six:

Repeat steps 3-5 on opposite side.

Step Seven:

Firmly trace each letter with your squeegee to ensure decal is well-secured to your surface.

Step Eight:

Carefully peel transfer paper away from the wall.

Step Nine:

Position decal and secure it with painter's tape.
Tip: Cut out decal for ease of application.

Step Ten:

Starting at the bottom, peel away a few inches of the backing and apply decal to surface.

Step Eleven:

Continue working upward, until decal is fully applied.
